And it is an organization that promotes environmental awareness, education and responsibility of the citizens of Fannin County

The
BEES (
Beautification, Education, and Enforcement Strategies) Committee of Fannin County has adopted a new program – Adopt-a-County-Road. And, you, a Fannin County citizen, are needed to get this program up and running.
The Adopt-a-County-Road program is a collaborative effort in Fannin County, with those involved including the public at large, County Extension Agents, County Commissioners, Texoma Council of Governments, and Fannin County Sheriff’s Department. The
BEES Committee is made up of these citizens, as well as others concerned or interested in the beautification and environmental stewardship in Fannin County.
Have you ever driven down the road and wondered how all that trash will be picked up? Or whose job it is? Or why that couch has been abandoned on the side of the road for a whole year? Or why people are dumping trash in your yard? Well, wonder no more! All that trash can be picked up by Fannin County loving citizens like yourself. And that couch? It’s the citizens’ job, too! With the help of the
BEES, of course!
Adopt-a-County-Road is similar to that of Adopt-a-Highway. However, you can sign up to adopt the county road that YOU live on! It’s a 2 year agreement between you and the
BEES Committee, a promise that you will help beautify Fannin County. Read on to find out if this program is right for you. However, this program could have side effects. These include: Feelings of productivity, happiness, and/or cleanliness; as well as clean roads, fresh air, or clear water.
For two years, four times a year, you and your family or friends, will pick up trash on a two-mile stretch of road (or creek or park; the County will haul the trash off). You get to beautify Fannin County and be a part of something big!
The average person watches over 1500 hours of television and works 2100 hours every year. But, if you spend four days a year picking up your stretch of road, four hours each day, that’s only 16 hours a year! That is a very small time commitment for something so great.
The
BEES will provide orange vests that should be worn at all times during trash pick-up. Signs to warn drivers that you are working hard for Fannin County will be loaned to you, and additional signs to let citizens know that you’re helping to beautify the roads are yours to keep. Safety guidelines and trash bags are also available and the
BEES promise to pick up trash that is too heavy or hazardous.
