Fannin Rural Rail Transportation District
Purpose

The purpose of the Fannin Rural Rail district is to preserve railroad service in eastern Grayson, Faninin County, Texas, and western Lamar counties to meet present and future transportation requirements. Such investment in infrastructure will insure that the railroad remains viable for at least the next quarter century, and provide a much needed economic engine for a rural area that depends on agriculture and blue collar industries for its livelihood. The Fannin Rural Rail District is committed to saving the railroad.
Creation
The Fannin Rural Rail Transportation District was created by the Fannin county commissioners' Court on November 8, 1999, pursuant to Article 6550c, Vernon's Revised Civil Statutes, as amended.
